All newly graduate engineers face the same kind of challenges - not knowing what and how to apply the theories we learn from our studies.
Practically, students of mechanical engineering have the theoretical knowledge and of course, the principles and laws anchored onto the industry it represents. However, not all students have the actual practice experience or haven’t yet applied the principles on real time basis.
What I'm saying is that - it carries a big challenge knowing the concept of things but not knowing what parts to use or which is which. And as a fresh grad, it is understandable and may be relatable to your manager. One advise, try to learn the actual practice of things you've learned at school to every machine or system you encountered discreetly. Cheers! Congratulations!
